2011 Update: It looks like Thorntons have dropped their organic Easter egg this year – I can’t work out why, but it was very popular. The best place I can think of for ethically sourced organic ones is Montezumas who have a wide range to choose from, including single origin Easter eggs.
If you have your heart set on Thorntons Easter Eggs then it does look like they’ve decided to target children more this year. They’ve got loads of personalised Easter eggs to choose from where you can get a message or someone’s name iced onto the egg. They’ve also got a lot more novelty Easter eggs such as chocolate bears, a princess, a chocolate handbag, chocolate chicks, bunnies, cars, boots, as well as mini eggs.
For those of you who wanted Easter treats for adults, there may be some on the Thorntons website, but I suggest you’re better served going to Hotel Chocolat instead.
If you didn’t want to spend £60 on an egg from Hotel Chocolat or £15 from Thorntons, you can get a nice Organic Easter egg for just £2.99 from Thorntons. It’s also an Easter egg that’s suitable for Vegetarians and is gluten free.
You may not be able to personalise it with icing, but it’s still a very good quality Easter egg for a reasonable price.
You can find more information here.
I’m awaiting information as to whether Thornton’s are selling organic Easter eggs in 2012 – I will reflect that information when they’ve informed me of what they’re selling this year.
