Thornton’s are great for offering a variety of Easter eggs and thinking about people’s differing needs and so they’re one of the free chocolate retailers that are offering a dairy free Easter egg – and this one is sold exclusively online.
This luxury dairy free dark chocolate Easter egg is made under strict conditions that prevent it being contaminated from other non-dairy free chocolate production. What’s more, it’s a luxury one, so if your girlfriend, husband or wife is allergic or intolerant to dairy products you should be safe with this one.
Also, for a luxury Easter egg it’s not a bad price at just £6 – so I’d really consider it if you’re looking for a dairy free Easter gift. However, if you did want to get some dairy free chocolate that isn’t an Easter egg then Chocolate Trading Co. have a wide range of luxury chocolates without dairy products in them.
Alternative: – I’m just updating this page before the main Easter season is kicking in, but if you did wish for some chocolate suitable for vegans then you could try Hotel Chocolat who have a dedicated section for people who prefer not to have any dairy products in their chocolate. Although at the moment they don’t have any Easter eggs to buy just yet.
Update: Early 2012 – I can no-longer see a dedicated “dairy-free” section on their website any more, although do have a no-added sugar one. They do, however, on the product information page normally list that an item is dairy free. Furthermore, there is generally no milk or dairy products in their dark chocolate bars so you could look there. But from my tours of their factory I don’t recall them ever saying that they have a dedicated production line which excludes dairy so I don’t *think* they have any completely dairy free chocolates in the sense that they can guarantee that there are no traces of milk in their chocolates. But I am willing to be corrected on the issue.
