Did you want to give your loved one or child a cute Easter chocolate gift but didn't know what to buy them? Well Chocolate Trading Co have this cute white chocolate duck (I think it’s actually yellow!) for just £3.95. But what's more, it’s made without soya lecithin, hydrogenated fats and made using Bourbon vanilla pod and 100% cocoa butter - which sets it apart from most novelty Easter chocolate for kids which are often full of horrible stuff.

I just love how it looks, it not only looks cute, but also manages to look menacing as well! It may only be about 7cm tall - which isn't huge, but it makes up more than enough in quality and uniqueness!

It tastes a whole world better than mass-produced stuff that we most often come across. There's a great, natural-tasting sweetness to it which does linger for a fair while on the tongue. Although, I often don't like white chocolate, I must admit, this chocolate Easter duck was actually pretty damn good. There may not be a huge amount of depth to the flavour, but it's not meant to be a gourmet Eater gift.

Rating:

Taste: 70% - for a novelty white chocolate Easter gift it was pretty damn good!
Texture: 70% - white chocolate never has the best texture, but the fact that it was made with 100% cocoa butter didn't really stand out.
Appearance: 85% - cute as can be!

Cadbury Koko Large Milk Chocolate Easter Egg

I was looking forward to reviewing this Koko Easter Egg because the adverts were great and the packaging very enticing, but alas, I was disappointed.

When I opened up the packaging I expected the Easter egg to fill a lot more of it than it did. I'd say it filled about a third of the available space and was left rattling around the box. It was only the fact that the sides are pulled into hold it in position. Below the egg was a bag of five of the Koko chocolates - which isn't a great deal.

But I'll give it credit, the Easter egg did look pretty great when unwrapped, although it did feel incredibly light. Also the texture was very buttery. And the full extent of this came to light when I tried to break the Easter egg. Whereas the Tesco Finest Plain Chocolate Marble Easter Egg was very hard to break, this one just fell into two parts in my hands.

I just wished this Easter egg felt more substantial and not like it'd melt into liquid within a couple of seconds' contact with your hands.

I think I paid about £6.99 for this egg at Tesco and no feel like I've got an incredibly bad deal. I've found Debenhams sell them for £4.50 which isn't a bad price if the person you're buying for loved milk chocolate.

The individual Koko chocolates are pretty nice and reminded me of Christmas chocolates. They're very creamy with a bit of an intensely caramel taste. I couldn't eat more than half of it as I felt I'd go dizzy with all the sugar.

Rating:

Taste: 55% - to sweet and buttery
Texture: 30% - it fell apart too easily and just melted into nothing
Appearance: 75% - I did think it looked great though.
Nutritional Information: 80% - very good as comes as standard with Cadbury's
Packaging: 60% - not bad, but still a fair bit of card used
Price: 65% - it depends where you get it form. At the Tesco price its expensive, at the Debenhams it’s not bad value if you know the recipient will like Cadbury's milk chocolate

Tesco Finest Plain Chocolate Marble Easter Egg

For just £2.99 for this Tesco Finest Plain Chocolate Marble Easter Egg I wasn't expecting much. But what I actually got was a fantasticly luxurious Easter egg.

I know that most of you would like to get your loved-one an Easter egg from a brand name that just makes chocolate and not a supermarket. But if they like dark chocolate then I'd really suggest that you get this one as its great value and tastes wonderful.

But one thing to note, I think the "plain chocolate" labelling of this Easter egg is missleading. To me "plain chocolate" is "milk chocolate" and at 70% cocoa its nothing like the sugary stuff you'd normally get when you buy milk chocolate. Conversely it has a fairly strong bitterness to it which should satisfy most dark chocolate lovers.

The Easter egg might not be the biggest you'll ever buy, but if they're still doing the 2 for £5 then they're outstanding value and you can get them some other Easter treats to go with it - perhaps from the online retailers such as Hotel Chocolat and Thorntons.

Rating:

Taste: 90% - I loved it! Great dark chocolate
Texture: 80% - very smooth, and a great 'break' to it
Appearance: 70% - the Tesco branding does distract from the overall appearance, but the egg ifself does look great!
Nutritional Information: 100% - everything is there and very clear indeed.
Packaging: 80% - even though its made of cardboard, and plastic, its all very easy to dissasemble and recycle.
Price: 90% - at £2.99 its a bargain
Overall: 85% - a great Easter Egg. Well done Tesco!

Milkybar White Chocolate Cow - Alternative To Easter Eggs

This Milkybar White Chocolate Cow is an alternative to an Easter egg, but it in no way can compare to the Taste of Spring which Hotel Chocolat sell.

Traditionally I don't like white chocolate, but I've shocked myself in that I actually liked the Milky Bar Shaker Easter Egg and loved the Milky Bar Mini Eggs and, I hate to admit it, I actually liked this white chocolate cow a lot.

But, that said, I think the £1.97 I paid for it at Asda was a bit too much. It looks incredibly cute in low-lighting and when you unravel the wrapping and then try and break off its head (as you do) its breaks in to a 'million' pieces and you're left trying to pick each up and even dab your finger to ensure that none is wasted.

I know its full of sugar and fats and all that rubbish, but a little bit of Milkybar chocolate every now and then won't do most people any harm.

If you're in the supermarket then I suggest you do try one if you like white chocolate and you wanted to give your child an alternative to traditional Easter eggs.

Are you fed up of traditional Easter eggs? Well, I'm not. But if you are and you're looking to buy your friends, partner or kids an Easter treat then why not try the Taste of Spring Easter selection box which is worth £11 or free when you spend over £35.

The most important question is: "is it worth the money?" Well I'd say yes - especially if you're getting it for free. It may not be their most gourmet selection but you'll get a nice variety of chocolates to placate any relative.

In the box you'll get a couple of milk chocolate batons, a chilli & Orange Praline, an billionaire's shortbread, a coconut lime pie chocolate, a dark sticky toffee eggie, a praline milk chocolate half egg and a 40% milk chocolate vintage tablet - that's a fair amount of chocolate.

The chilli orange praline wasn't at all strong, but it did have a nice tangy edge to it that did hit the back of your mouth. If the person you're buying for isn't a big chilli fan then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I just love the Billionaire's Shortbread! It has that sort of cookies and cream or "half baked" taste to it that was sweet but still very delicous. I wish I could have more of these!

The coconut lime pie chocolate wouldn't normally be a favourite of mine, but they had this strange taste which was actually very enjoyable - I'm not sure what others would think of it, but it just hit the mark.

The 40% milk chocolate vintage tablet is their architypal milk chocolate that has a honey-type flavour which just sort of disappears. You munch away at it then there's no more.

The milk chocolate half egg is a similar chocolate but has some white chocolate with it that gives a very interesting and balanced taste.

The dark chocolate sticky toffee eggie was a strange thing. For me it didn't work as well as expected. The dark chocolate was fairly mild and the sweetness of the toffee over-powered it. Actually, if you nibble at it rather than take large bits its actually quite nice.

Rating:

Taste: 70% - a nice variety of sweet flavours
Texture: 65% - they're all pretty standard
Appearance: 80% - I thought the packaging was very good and the contents were appealing too when the box was opened
Nutritional Information: 90% - loads there
Packaging: 80 - hardly any waste
Price: 70% - not bad value for money, but obviously fantastic when you get them free
Overall: 75.83% - pretty good as an alternative to Easter eggs

Galaxy Minstrels Easter Egg - Wholesale And Inidvidual

Well it was a tough choice today at Morrison’s. I've seemed to have reviewed everything else they've got on offer and was basically just left with this Galaxy Minstrels Easter Egg at a fairly hefty price of £5.29.

From looking at the box you'd think the Easter eggs was a huge one, but when you open up the box you'll find that only a small proportion of the volume inside is actually taken up with the egg.

What was also disappointing was the fact that the three bags of Minstrels the front of the box mentions were also small. I thick its shocking that companies can make out that the contents are actually larger than they are by the use of over-sized packaging. Ask someone what 324g of chocolate is and they wouldn't have a clue.

Only with nice lighting and a softish focus did I manage to make this Easter egg look appealing. To be honest, it’s nothing special. I certainly wouldn't buy it for a wife or girlfriend when there are so many more attractive alternatives.

Another thing I didn't like was the fact that the shell was so damn hard to open up or break. It took a lot of pressure and then collapsed into a heap. I much prefer it when it gives away in part, leaving the vast majority of it intact.

Galaxy chocolate tends to be very oily to me. There's always an intense shine which would lead me to think there is a very high percentage of cocoa butter. In fact it’s the second most prevalent ingredient in the Easter egg after sugar.

The chocolate doesn't taste great because of the high concentration of this sugar and cocoa butter. The flavour is incredibly rich and almost devoid of chocolate taste. In fact, I wouldn't call this a chocolate Easter egg; it’s more of a confectionary.

I would definitely put the rest of the egg in the bin, just that I share a house with someone that likes this rubbish.

And this is where I now contradict myself. The Minstrels themselves are very nice and serve as a perfect film snack. They're just partnered with some awful chocolate in this instance.

Rating:

Taste: 20% - dreadful
Texture: 40% - too oily
Appearance: 60% - from the outside - quite good. From the inside underwhelming
Nutritional Information: 80% - actually very good
Packaging: 20% - a huge waste of packaging
Price: 40% - not worth the price
Overall: 43.33% - only saved by the nutritional information

It's this time of year we take a look at the range of Hotel Chocolat Easter eggs and how great they are. This year they've got a few new additions whilst the old favourites are still there.

Happy Egg & Milk Tiddly Pot (including dark & white)
This year its gone up to £6 from £5 but they're still great value as you can get a three of them for £15 and that includes a mix and match between the dark, milk and white chocolate Tiddly Pots. What I love about them is that they're actually very tasty and perfect for kids. White Scrambled Easter Egg
These Scrambled Easter eggs are new for 2010 and they're pretty hefty as they weigh in at around 220g each and are also about 125mm tall. These Easter eggs aren't their largest, because those ones are massive, but these ones are average sized and would do the trick for both adults and children. Nibble & Peck's Easter Chocolate Hunt
I get a lot of people looking for chocolate for Easter egg hunts, and now we've got something a bit posher than the usual fair to buy. In this Hotel Chocolat Easter egg hunt pack you'll get 16 figures cast in white, milk and caramel chocolate - but they do look like the figures you'd get in the Rocky Road To Caramellow Egg. Full On Dark Easter Egg Sandwich

It's made with 70% dark chocolate so it's not going to be too full on, but for most it'll still be fairly dark. Just like the others, its a slab of dark chocolate between too shells. The Easter Hbox is also new and is a box of 15 filled mini eggs which has been created with the idea of sharing them around - but I doubt if that'll happen too often as they look pretty gorgeous. Large Divine Milk Chocolate Easter Egg With Marc De Champange Truffles

Ahh, we're back into Divineland. And again I'm faced with a lovely Divine Easter Egg. This one is significantly larger than the last and weighs in at a hefty 240g. And it’s just as full to the brim with flavour and emotional goodness.

Again, this Divine Easter egg has a minimal amount of superfluous packaging. It’s kept to a minimum which may let the egg float around the box but there are so much more important things than an Easter egg imperfectly placed within its packaging. But, what this Easter egg lacks in orientation it makes up with by being adorned by a cute mauve ribbon - which gives it that extra feeling of quality.

When you place the egg next to the golden box of truffles then you can see that this Easter egg is placed at slightly at the higher end of the market, perhaps at wives and girlfriends?

And when you disrobe it you'll see a good quality milk chocolate that has a minimum of 27% cocoa solids and a wonderful shine.

The chocolate is fairly thick - thick enough to resist a good amount of force. But more importantly, the flavours are milky, sweet and velvety. I couldn't eat too much of it as it was very sweet, but those who wish to have a tasty sugar rush then dive in - you won't regret it.

The six Marc de Champagne truffles were unusual. They had a light and fluffy consistency similar to that of Milky Way. There was no crunch there, which I like, but we can have too much of a good thing at times. The important thing to note is that other truffles may be full of artificial flavourings and preservatives; these aren't so that'll affect the taste and texture. For those that like their chocolates to be delicate and without a great deal of punch then you're onto a winner here.

Rating:

Taste: 65% - sweet and milky. If you're a big milk chocolate fan you'll love it!
Texture: 65% - there was a very milky texture to this egg
Appearance: 80% - the appearance was wonderful without overindulging in unnecessary packaging
Nutritional Information: 50% - there's loads on the bottom of the box.
Packaging: 80% - there's loads on the bottom of the box.
Price: 65% - it looks like it'll be around £9.99. For the whole experience it’s worth it.
Overall: 67.5% - perfect for someone that you want to impress, but also appreciates that the environment is more important

Divine 70% Dark Chocolate Easter Egg 55g

I've tried the Divine Dark Chocolate Mini eggs and the Divine 70% Dark Chocolate Hearts in the past and absolutely loved the both. So it was no surprise that I thought this 70% Dark Chocolate Easter Egg was going similarly fantastic.

The nice people at Divine Chocolate sent me this one before they're available in the shops so I don't know much about the pricing yet.

To some the egg may look uninspiring as its not all that big and doesn't "shout out" at people, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in a purely delightful taste.

Divine are obviously conscious of the amount of packaging they use and so there's not going to be any plastic spacer to make it look gorgeous. However, the chocolate itself does the talking.

But when you do get it out of the box and unwrap the foil you'll see a wonderful small dark chocolate egg that has a fantastic aroma - it reminds me of the slight beachy aroma from the sand dunes behind them. Perhaps its the natural, clean, unadulterated aspect to the aroma? Having checked the available sources of information I can see that the cocao for this Easter egg comes from the Kuapo Kokoo plantation in Ghana which is pretty far from the sea so the flavour must just come from the natural ingredients used?

The flavours are beautiful too. Perhaps, they're not as direct as the 70% cocao would entail. It's more of a mild, almost delicate dark chocolate taste which is immensely pleasant. And to consider that they've managed to get such a well rounded, smooth flavour without the use of any artifical flavourings or preservatives (nor artificial flavourings) is a triumph in chocolate production.

But praise should also be given for the texture of the Easter egg. It's just as smooth as the taste. It lingers in your mouth and allows the complex flavours to come out slowly. It really is a great Easter egg!

Taste: 90% - its rich, flavoursome, complex yet unpretentious - a delight

Texture: 75% - smooth, silky and each mouthful will leave you wanting more!

Appearance: 70% - it lets itself down on the outer appearance - but the environment is infinitely more important.

Nutritional Information: 80% - loads loads of information available including the energy/calories per egg, protein, carbohydrate, fat, fibre and sodium per 100g and per 55g egg

Packaging: 90% - all recyclable, and nothing unnecessary

Price: 80% - ~~I think it'll retail anywhere around £3.50~~ I've just heard back from Divine and they'll be around £3.00 - even better value!

Overall: 80.83% - a gorgeous Easter egg that not only satisfies your taste buds, but also your heart

Marks & Spencer Bubbly Bunny

I got this cute little Easter treat from Marks And Spencer for 49p I think it was and its fantastic value for money. After trying the Malteaster chocolate bunny I was fearing the worst - but thankfully it was wonderful.

The packaging may look decidedly average, the taste, however, was anything but. The wonderful thing about this chocolate bunny is that it tastes very much like a Cadbury's Wispa and has the same sort of bubbly interior.

Another great feature is that the chocolate is incredibly chewy. I don't know how they manage to do it, but the chocolate doesn't melt anywhere near as quickly as other chocolate, but seems to stick to your teeth and takes ages to disappear. It's certainly different.

There's a distinct nutty flavour to it that does last a good while and you'll find yourself nibbling off little bits as the chocolate is quite firm. Its a great cheap chocolate treat for kids. So if you ever find yourself going past M&S then pop in and take a look at their chocolate range!

Rating:

Taste: 65% - its pretty good for a cheap chocolate treat

Texture: 67% - its a strange one. Its crisp but chewy and very unusual

Lindt Milk Chocolate Gold Bunny

I think Cat summed the Lindt Milk Chocolate Gold Bunny perfectly when she insisted that she didn't believe that "Lindt lives up to the hype". The little bunny looks gorgeous, But the flavours don't match the initial impression given by the packaging.

Yes it may have a pretty little red ribbon on it. It may also have a cute little bell to go with it. But the chocolate doesn't come up to the standards I'd like and expect, especially as I might be spending £3.50 of my hard-earned cash on it.

The Lindt Gold Bunny also looks great when you remove her clothes. Ok, that just sounds wrong, but you can't fault the interest factor. The shape is a wonderful detour from the usual egg-shaped Easter chocolate.

Another plus point is the thickness of the chocolate. It's considerably more substantial than the Mini Smarties Shakers Easter Egg that I reviewed yesterday. The issue is that you're getting more chocolate that just isn't all that nice!

The flavour is incredibly smokey. I don't know what could cause that, but its a flavour that I wouldn't wish to try again. I'm sorry guys, but the Lindt Gold Bunny isn't one that'd make me hop with joy.

Mini Smarties Shakers Easter Eggs

These Mini Smarties aren't worth the money. I'm not going to beat about the bush. The Smarties Easter Egg with a Mug decorating kit I reviewed last year certainly was, even the normal Smarties Easter egg was barely acceptable, and the Smarties Mini eggs absolutely delicious. But these mini shakers are just naff.

It may have cost 45p, but I'd like my money back. The egg itself is only about 50mm (2 inches) tall, with a thickness that ranges between 4mm and 5mm and you get about 15-18 very small smarties inside.

Its the taste of these that is the most dissapointing factor. They taste like cardboard. I'm not kidding you, they're deadful. I'd love to know what they're made of.

The actual taste of the mini egg shell itself is hardly better. It's sweet and devoid of any other taste. It's their typical naff stuff. If they just stuck to the bags of mini eggs I'd be very happy. But this is just dreadful. Opps, I've just finished it. I'm either hungry or they're not all that bad when you get going. I'd much rather have a Lindt Milk Chocolate Mini Easter Egg though.

Whilst in my local Marks & Spencer getting one of their weekend Dine in For £10 things I thought I'd pop over to their chocolate aisle to see what they've got going on for Easter and Valentine's Day, I saw that they had these Raspberry Dusted Chocolate Eggs for only £1.99 so I thought I'd give them a go.

I've got to say, I've very disappointed by them. I love fruity chocolate. Hotel Chocolat do great ones with their Blueberry and http://www.easter-eggs.org.uk/2009/02/strawberry-sensation-egg-sandwich.html Egg sandwiches and their awesome Chocolate Puddles, but these chocolate eggs fall very far short.

The raspberry coating is mild and the milk chocolate inside is of poor quality. They're distinctly average. Personally I wish I could get my £1.99 back. I bought two of their Millionaire's puddings at the same time and they were infinitely more delicious.

I'm not going to do a big review here as I'm so disappointed. For the couple of quid you get 14 mini eggs that just aren't worth the money. Simply avoid them and buy the real thing in terms of the Charbonnel et Walker Bucks Fizz Truffles instead.

Cadbury Caramel Bunnies

I found these Cadbury Caramel Bunnies a huge disappointment. They may only be 50p or so but I thought for that price we should be getting something more than this. I truly wouldn't pay more than 30p for it - baring in mind that 40g of chocolate is hardly anything.

There is one thing though, and that is they do look cute and a lot better than the Nestle Kit Kat Easter bars

I know these things aren't meant to be anything fantastic, just a quick treat for kids and would be great for those kids that really like caramel. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

I'm not going to do a thorough scoring on this one. ButI'll give it a quick rating of 40%.

The Kit Kat Easter Bunny Bar is another disappointing bar along with the Malteaster I bought this week. It's almost not worth writing about. I think it was about 49p, but I wish I still had the money.

I'm traditionally a big fan of KitKats, especially after the KitKat Activity Experience Easter egg which was popular a couple of years ago, but this one is just a non-event. I couldn't even find out the net weight or make out the nutritional information without getting a magnifying glass.

The only difference between this and a KitKat Chunky is that it appears to be less high and have a bunny imprinted on the top. The flavours are the same, sweet, salty and a lingering after-taste. If I were you, I'd buy the original instead. Saying all that, I've just demolished it. It couldn't have been all that bad.

I won't give it a full review but, as a quick one, I'll give it 50%. Save your money and buy a filled egg instead!

Malteaster - Maltesers Mini Bunny Easter Treat

I must say that I'm hugely disappointed with these Malteaster mini Easter bunnies from Mars. They may only be 59p from Tesco but they mold for the bunny is of poor quality, the chocolate too sweet and the "crunchy & creamy Melteasters centre" tastes peppery to me (I am slightly ill so that may account for part of it).

This Easter treat is no where near 59p worth as its only 29g and mostly a biscuity concoction. That brings me to the issue - where the heck is the "creamy" part? It conspicuous in its absence in the one I've got!

I'm glad that Mars kept to the same chocolate tradition in this version as its very mild and not excessively sweet, although you could still say its missing a trick in being a bit of a non-entity. I'd certainly give this a miss if you're popping along to your local supermarket or Sweets2 in either wholesale quantities or boxes of 5 for £3.99 or a box of 4 from Chocolate Buttons for £3.10

Taste: 20% - too peppery, not enough chocolate

Texture: 55 - the biscuit part was to dry and was too large a part of the Easter treat

Appearance: 40% - most of this score came from the wrapping, the bar itself was not detailed enough

Nutritional Information: 70% - there was a good amount of information present

Packaging: 80% - no excessive packaging

Price: 30% - not good value at all

Overall: 49.17% - only partially saved by packaging and info - a must avoid Easter treat

Over the last few years Nestle have been expanding their range of Milky Bar Easter eggs such as the perfectly decent Milky Bar Shaker Easter egg I reviewed earlier in 2009. But in the run up to Easter 2010 its the first time I've seen Milky Bar Mini Eggs

Obviously the normal milky bars are made out of very soft, crumbly white chocolate. These mini eggs aren't. They're not even as sweet as those bars. They've got a gorgeous crispy shell similar to Cadbury's Mini Eggs but with that white chocolate taste - and they're incredibly moreish with it.

I got 31 mini eggs in my packet and I'm sure everyone of you should have somewhere between 30 and 32 and for what £1 they're about 3p each which is fine. If you wanted to buy a box of 12 from Chocolate Buttons they'll set you back £10.65 or 89p which is outstanding value.

Rating:

Taste: 67% - I do like them, they're not "outstanding" but they are very nice. My only concern is that for them to be exceptional I'd have to have no doubts that I could eat a whole packet in one go.

Texture: 75% - a lovely crispy shell with soft white chocolate inside.

Appearance: 70% - they're not all that awe-inspiring to be honest and the reverse of the packaging is full of information but with any sales message

Packaging: 90% - there's hardly any waste in this sense.

Nutritional Information: 80% - there's loads on there including RDA for both children and adults. However, there could have been more such as the ingredients - which I thought were a legal requirement.

Price: 70% - in themselves they're an acceptable price, if a touch expensive. I'd say a price of 80p a packet would be more suitable.

Galaxy Chocolate Caramel Eggs - 2010 Version

Ah it looks like these were one of the first few out early last year but were called Chocolate Caramel Temptations. But this year the price has gone up to 59p each or 2 for £1.

I can see the different in the product this year in that the caramel inside is a lot firmer, all that could be due to the fact that they might have spent a long time in cold storage before I reviewed them?

Last year I wasn't a fan of Galaxy chocolate, and I'm still not this year either. I find it exceptionally sweet and of low quality. I'm sorry Galaxy fans!!

One thing I did notice was that the chocolate was a touch darker than I'd usually expect Galaxy chocolate to be, I'm not sure if it had to be stronger to withstand the bashing it'd probably get in transit, but there was a definite difference in appearance!

To be fair, I know these Galaxy Chocolate Caramel Eggs will appeal to the fans of normal Galaxy chocolate and the eggs were actually filled to the brim with caramel so I think I'd upgrade this rating to 5/10.

I'm going to try and spot when the supermarkets start to put Easter eggs on their shelves and make them available online by doing searches on the Supermarket price comparison and ordering service MySupermarket.

Thankfully the first day of searching, today with 112 until Easter 2010 there are 0 Easter eggs on the virtual shelves.

I'll chart it all up to keep you guys informed and highlight which supermarkets are more in the Easter spirit, or lagging on exploiting the important Christian festival.

Cadbury Works With Farmers To Reduce Cow Farts

I just love PR stuff. But sometimes its mutually beneficial, just like Cadbury's attempts to reduce their carbon footprint. Whilst reading a recent news item about Cadbury's efforts something struck me: The unwanted carbon-based gasses emitted in the process of manufacturing our food stuffs isn't always a factory-based issue.

Cadbury recently found that 60% of the emissions for its Dairy Milk chocolate bar was related to the cows that produce the milk that go into the bar and now they're working with farmers to introduce new diets to reduce this. Their overall target is to reduce emissions by 50% by 2020!

That may be a hard job, but they've already started by reducing the amount of plastic used in their small and medium sized Easter eggs by 202 tons which is the equivalent of 24m plastic bags or 4m two-litre drinks bottles!

Retro Easter Eggs From Nestle

The news is that Nestléare are in retro fever as it plans its 2010 Easter egg range.

We have information that their Smarties Easter egg will come with an 1980's style mug and their Rolo Easter egg will have a 1990's theme.

But what's even more shocking is that the news their Easter eggs will be hitting the shelves at the end of November. Did I hear that right?! We'd still be a month away from Christmas and they'll have Easter eggs on the shelves?! Madness.

Tesco Sold A Load Of Easter Eggs

This year I contributed to an article in the Telegraph about how the price of Easter eggs fell through the floor (or looked like it had) as a result of the collapse of Woolworths and all the Easter eggs they had allocated were redistributed to some supermarkets - including Tesco and now there was a follow-up piece in the Times.

Their Finance Director, Mr McIlwee, said that they had "sold a lot of Easter eggs because Woolworths had disappeared and we sold out a couple of days early."

It's good for consumers that they can buy cheaper Easter eggs in the one sense, but in the other, it ensures that they only stick to a couple of brands and aren't encouraged to try other types of chocolate as their prices weren't generally reduced.

My hope for next Easter is that people explore that range of fantastic Easter eggs available a bit more.
