I bought this Easter eggs from the Thorntons store but didn’t realise you couldn’t buy it online. They’ve got a good selection of milk chocolate Easter eggs that you can buy online and get free personalisation so this review would give you a good introduction to what they’re like if you’ve not already tried them. They do another that is larger and without chocolate buttons for £3.50 which I think is about good value – it gets even better value for money when you realise that you can get them on 3 for 2!!
The thing I love about Thorntons entry level Easter eggs is that they may be around the same sort of price as the Cadbury’s but you actually get half as much more cocoa content. Cadbury’s often do their major brands at 20% cocoa, whilst Thorntons do it at 30%. To me this makes a huge difference, not only in terms of the taste, but also the texture.
But the main purpose of this review is to look at the quality of the Easter eggs that can be personalised. From my taste session with it I can tell you that I think they’ve got the balance of sweetness and chocolate flavour to a T at this price point. It may be fairly sweet but it still has a long chocolate aftertaste which is something I’m always looking for in an Easter egg for children.
I also regularly find that the icing on personalised Easter eggs can be a bit bland. In this instance, however, it’s nice, sweet and crisp. I just chose an Easter egg with a standard “Happy Easter” message. But online you can get anything put on it – up to 10 characters. Even better, personalisation of the Easter eggs is free!
I’m just going to give this Easter egg a quick review as I’ve got many other’s to get through. But for suitability to who it’s aimed at, price, taste and everything else I’m going to give it a very good 75%. I actually want to keep eating it, even though I’ve got a pile of dark chocolate here to review.
You can buy a larger personalised Easter egg from Thorntons for £3.50 (less as part of a 3 for 2.
