Even though I know that personalised Easter eggs are extremely popular with people I find it surprising that more chocolate shops don’t offer them. As we get closer to Easter in 2012 here’s the limited selection of stores where you can buy personalised Easter gifts online and have delivery by post to your door.
When it comes to Hotel Chocolat, I haven’t included them on this list as they only seem to do personalised Easter gifts for businesses. And for some reason I keep going to Getting Personal expecting to see Easter eggs, but alas they (at the time of writing) only seem to do pretty tasteless chocolate bars with some unique writing on the packaging or non-edible ornaments.
For a while Thorntons have done their personalised chocolate boxes where you can add a photo as well as some alphabet truffles where you can write a message in little chocolate cups which each have a letter on and which spells out a message.
But it’s the Easter eggs where you can have a short message or somebody’s name iced on to them that they truly excel at. A couple years ago they were charging 50p to ice an Easter egg with one of those messages, but today they doing it for free!! At the time of writing they have 45 individual Eater eggs and other gift items for the season and 27 of them can be personalised – this really sets them apart from other chocolate companies such as Hotel Chocolat.
To find a list of all of the chocolate gifts that can be personalised Click Here (I’ve created a craft search). The most expensive that can be iced are their Continental Easter eggs that come with either their Continental chocolates or their Viennese truffles – these cost £9.99, but I think they look great enough and don’t really need personalising.
For the same price you can have a milk chocolate Easter egg with an embossed design or a 70% dark chocolate Easter egg.
As we go cheaper we have the Easter eggs that are more aimed at children than the more expensive adult ones. These seem specifically designed to be personalised. For £6.50 you can have some flavoured eggs such as Toffee, Caramel and Fudge. At the same price they also do their range of extra thick Easter eggs in both dark, milk and white chocolate.
They also do a “no added sugar” Easter egg but I doubt you’d want to get this iced purely because of the sugar in the icing.
At £3.50 they have a range of medium sized Easter eggs clearly aimed at children as they have them with either a butterfly, an Easter bunny or a football on. And it seems you can essentially get the same eggs in a plain box for the same price but without those decorations on.
If you wanted to give something other than the traditional egg you could go for hollow chocolate animals such as a rabbit, a monkey or a bear which can also be iced.
If you’re looking for personalised Easter eggs and don’t mind spending a fair bit then try out the one offered by Madame Oiseau Fine Chocolates which you can pick up for £12.50 and is made out of fantastic milk or dark chocolate and stands at 13.5cm tall.
Delivery is only £2.50 too which isn’t too bad so it’s worth getting a few here rather than Easter eggs from various different places.
If you wanted to get your loved-one something different why not get them a personalised Easter gingerbread house? You’ll get some sugar-coated mini chocolate eggs, a chocolate bunny. You just need to order one before 26th March to get it in time.
Using the clever functionality from Not On The High Street you can do a search such as “Easter” and then refine your search with the “can be personalised” option on the left-hand-side. This makes finding the best chocolate for you or your family so much easier.
As an alternative to Easter eggs for dogs why not try these personalised Easter egg Dog Biscuits? Which you can pick up for just £9.99 from Bonnie Dogs.
