I made a schoolboy error – I was so enjoying the Organic Dark Chocolate Easter Egg With Dates and Walnuts that I wasn’t reviewing it. I think that’s a testament to how nice it was.
Again this is another Easter egg that House of Fraser and The Chocolate Alchemist sent over for me. Now if you get free Easter eggs you’re always thinking “should I be honest, or nice”! Well this was very nice indeed. If you want to be technical its 86% dark chocolate. 7% dates and 7% walnuts, with the chocolate being 73% cocoa solids. So much dark chocolate can be over-bitter (in my opinion) even at the 73% level. But was very smooth and velvety with a beautiful kick at the end where the cocoa really kicks in. Then the taste lingers for ages on your tongue and gently soothes your taste buds. Most delightful.
The walnuts and dates go exceptionally well – so well that they had dissapeared by the time I’ve actually got round to writing this (about 5 minutes).
You could say that the nuts and dates are a meal in itself as they’re exceptionally filling and compliments the dark chocolate very well. I’ve had to stop eating it as I’ve got another two Easter eggs to review tonight!
You can pick the Organic Dark Chocolate Easter Egg With Dates and Walnuts from your nearest House of Fraser store (there’s a nice list on their homepage).
Easter Eggs Rating: 9/10 – I’ve got to stop giving their Easter eggs such a high rating otherwise it’ll go to their heads (like my opinion counts). But I was very surprised how well the flavours and textures went together.
If you did want to buy online there are a number of chocolates with walnuts and dates in.
