Update 2012: I’m finding it incredibly difficult to find nut free Easter eggs this year. I’ve found some nut free chocolates from Starlight. And although I went around the Thorntons factory for another time just before Christmas and saw their nut free section, including all their notices, policies and different coloured lines on the floor, I can’t actually find any nut free Easter eggs on their website. Have a look out for this Egg from Kinnerton if you visit Asda, it costs £5 and is made in a nut free zone.

I think Kid Me Not have sold nut free Easter eggs in the past, but they don’t have any listed just yet. Their chocolate is made with goat’s milk.

Chocolates For Chocolics have a range of nut free chcoolate for kids.

It seems that buying nut free Easter eggs is the hardest type of Easter egg to buy for people with specific requirements. Even Hotel Chocolat doesn’t have a specific category for nut-free chocolate, just details of each product with the information:

This product does not use any nuts in the recipe, however, it may contain nut traces. We cannot say our products are nut free (sorry), as all are made in an environment where nuts are present. We have added a dietary symbol to products with nuts in the recipe.

So if you do buy from Hotel Chocolat please bear this in mind.

You could buy your nut free Easter eggs from a company such as No Nuts Just Chocolate who give a very detailed list of dietry concerns and what chocolate is suitable for different types of people.

There’s also It’s Nut Free who have a wide range of chocolates to choose from.

I may have my issues with the quality of Kinnerton chocolate as it tastes (to me) dreadful. But they were “the first manufacturer in the world to address the problems of Nut-contamination in chocolate products by creating a NUT FREE ZONE in our factory in Fakenham, Norfolk.” They sell their chocolate very cheap in supermarkets such as Tesco.

If you wanted to find the range of Cadbury chocolates or Easter eggs which are nut-free, they have a very good tool that’ll help you find appropriate chocolate for you or the person with a nut allergy.

If you wanted to look at a less obvious shop, then you could have a look at Amazon who list a range of nut-free chocolate.
