I like to have a mix and match approach and not only review the expensive Easter eggs like those from shoos like Hotel Chocolat or Chocolate Trading Co, but also the cheaper ones that are good for kids. This time I thought I’d give the Milkybar Shaker Easter egg which I bought for just £1.59 from Tesco.

I wasn’t expecting anything great but I was disappointed in a great way. The Milkybar Easter egg may not be in the same class as the white chocolate Easter eggs such as the Pure White Cocoa Pod or the Organic White Chocolate Easter egg from Green & Blacks, but it is a very nice one Easter egg aimed at kids.

What I liked was the little detail of the cardboard basket that the Easter egg comes in. That was a nice little touch and a surprise when you consider that the internal packaging is so often ignored when it comes to Easter eggs.

And the gold foil also makes it look like you’re getting a quality Easter egg. I wasn’t expecting much detail on the egg, but when you unwrap it you’ll see a nice tortoise pattern on it.
I was further surprised by the number of mini milkybar pieces that make the sound when you shake it.
Looking at the nutritional information, I wouldn’t say there’s a lot to worry about. The Egg shell is about 20% saturated fat and 43.5% sugars. Which isn’t great, but its a small Easter egg and not something they’ll be Eating every day.
Easter Eggs Rating: 7/10 – a good, cheap Easter egg for kids.
