The Limited Edition Madirofola Small Easter Egg is made from single origin chocolate from Madagascar. It’s not been certified as being organic, however, they say its made from an organic plantation in Madagascar – which is good enough for me.
It says that its only 62% cocoa solids but it definitely tastes as if its a 75% Easter egg – I’ve tasted enough dark chocolate in my time to tell the difference. It must just be due to the fact that its single origin and definitely at the top end of the market.

I was so excited opening the packaging as it was “limited edition”! Stupid I know! The aroma hits you as you pull it out of the plastic box. It’s a rich, buttery aroma that has undertones of browned nuts. The flavour is very deep and has a hint of a rum, suggary taste. I’m assuming that it wasn’t made with cane sugar, which as a more complex taste (Chocolate Trading Co has some made with cane sugar), but it was still exceptional – dark chocolate lovers will absolutely adore this Madirofola egg – I’m definitely saving the rest for mother!

Another thing that amazed me was the thickness of the egg. It was exceptionally thick which can be understood by that it’s 130g of dark chocolate crammed into such a small egg – its only about 11cm tall!
Easter Eggs Rating: 8/10 – a fantastically rich and delicious Easter egg. I think my taste buds have been assaulted today, but I’d definitely recommend it for dark chocolate addicts.
You can buy it from House of Fraser for £6.99.
