Happy Easter! For Russian Orthadox Christians

27 April 2008 in Easter Egg News by admin

Today is Easter sunday for the Russian Orthadox Christians amongst us! For those that don’t know, today Russians will wake and say “Christ is risen” and then reply to the other “He has indeed risen!” and then give each other three kisses and exchange Easter eggs.

Easter is still very popular in Russia following the end of the Soviet era. A poll by VTsIOM indicates that around 60% of Russians will be celebrating Easter.

So if you wanted to get in the spirit – this what you need to say: Христос воскресе

And then reply with: воистину воскресе

Enjoy!
