Green and Blacks Organic Milk Chocolate Easter Egg
22 March 2010 in Uncategorized by adminAfter reviewing the Green & Blacks Organic Dark 70% Praline Filled Mini eggs, the Green & Blacks Maya Gold Organic Easter Egg and their Butterscotch Easter egg, I thought I’d give their normal organic Easter Egg a try.
This Easter egg would be great for those that definitely wanted an organic Easter egg, loves the Green & Blacks brand but just wanted a milk chocolate Easter egg.
What I did love about this milk chocolate Easter egg is that it’s got the highest cocoa content of the non-premium Easter eggs I’ve reviewed this year at 37%. Interestingly the Cadbury’s Easter eggs generally have just a 20% which is a massive difference to this one.
Another thing I love about the 110g Green & Blacks Easter eggs is that they’ve really worked hard to keep down the packaging as it’s just the one box with no plastic and a thinly wrapped Egg. Also they’ve moved away from the traditional cube shape (I would say) to keep the volume of the packaging so they can get more in the same space when transporting. This should keep the delivery costs down and help reduce the impact on the environment.
This is where I confess. I doubt that many of their Easter eggs are delivered in this condition. It’s just that a box of Thorntons Metropolitans fell off my desk and on to this as it was in the delivery box on the floor. But, as with their other Easter eggs, they have the Green & Blacks logo embossed into the egg shell which does add a bit more quality to it.
The egg itself is fairly thick in the main and about 12cm tall. I’m not sure how much they cost at this size. But if you wanted to buy the 180g version they’re £5.99 each which I think is pretty good value. If you wanted to buy at wholesale prices you can get them for £5.69 each.
The flavour is a bit strange compared to the non-organic milk chocolate I’ve tasted. There’s more of a taste of powdered milk and fairly creamy. I subsequently checked and 25% of the egg is organic whole milk powder – so that wasn’t a bad guess. I do like this Easter egg, but not as much as their butterscotch one.
