This Eton Mess Egg Sandwich from Hotel Chocolat is certainly an Easter gift for you white chocolate lovers. It uses their standard white chocolate which is extremely sweet as well as some raspberry flavouring in about a third of its which has a nice zesty quality.
On its own this might be a tad boring but they do have small pieces of meringue and some dried raspberry as well. If you’re looking for something different for a pre-teen or even young teenager with a sweet tooth, or even a “little something” for a friend then this could be a good gift. The thing is, it’s not Hotel Chocolat’s finest Easter treat. They do some absolutely fantastic stuff and have set a high benchmark for easily accessible, quality chocolate gifts and hence some stuff would pale into comparison. And this is one of them. Of course, if you love white chocolate then you’ll be happy, but for everyone else you’ll be wishing you got some of their dark chocolate or milk chocolate gifts.
There is one caveat though. I’m absolutely addicted to their puddles and the raspberry flavouring gives this white chocolate an incredibly moreish quality and which makes it perfect if this Easter will be as hot as last as it is very refreshing.
But there is one thing I’d take issue with, and that’s the price. £8 each is a bit much; even though you can get them for £7 each if you bought three or more. Personally I see some of their other Easter presents as better value for money – even if you do get of these eggs.
