Ethical Easter Eggs For Kids

What I love about chocolate companies recently is not only their aim to differentiate from one another by coming up with novel types of Easter chocolate, but it’s also because many are starting to add more ethical Easter eggs into their product lines. And the Easter Chick & Mini Eggs from Thorntons is one of them – and it’s not a bad price either at only £3.50.

At first when I first got a blast of the aroma I wasn’t too sure about it – it was a touch “woody”. But then I looked closer at the label and realised it was made with no artificial colours or flavours and then I thought “that’s fair enough”. Just look at the ingredients:

Another feature I like is that the carton is made from 50% recycled plastic and that they actively encourage you to recycle all the packaging.

The mini eggs did look very appealing and more natural than the Smarties mini eggs I reviewed recently. When I tried a red one you instantly got a hit of the light beetroot flavour from the colouring. The flavour was quite complex after that and nicely different from the sharp hit you normally get from mini eggs.

I couldn’t quite place the yellow one in terms of picking up the natural colouring, but the flavour more was more like Cadbury Mini Eggs. Whilst the light brown ones you can definitely pick up the caramel flavour.

Easter Eggs Rating: 8/10 – the Easter chick was very milky and creamy but didn’t have a massively strong flavour, whilst the mini eggs were fantastic.

You can buy this Easter egg from Thornton’s for just £3.50
