So you’re probably wondering what you can send through to your niece or nephew or even a son or daughter that doesn’t live without it getting obliterated in the post. That’s the downside of Easter eggs – you never know in what state they’ll arrive in. What I do know is that this decently-sized keepsake tin of egglets could survive even the most destructive of couriers. The tin is very robust and is aided by its shape which is a good thing as I’m sure many people will have a have a soft spot for these Hotel Chocolat mini eggs.

The tin is exactly what it says, it’s a very attractive keepsake tin which houses eleven of those egglets which have different fillings. You get some house pralines, some pink Champagne ones and a number of salted caramel – all coded by the colour of the foil wrapping.

The pralines are typical in terms of flavour but atypical in that they’re very smooth and moorish, there’s none of that course grittiness that I feel so often spoils a good praline. Whilst the salted caramel isn’t so salty which should be a boon to many. They also have a very milky chocolate shell which wasn’t so apparent in the praline and an incredibly soft caramel centre. Caramels aren’t typically my thing so I’m less inclined to wax lyrical, but I know a few people that’ll enjoy them immensely.

I did very much like the Champagne truffle as it had a fairly strong boozy edge and a sweet milk chocolate shell. The texture is also wonderful, but it does have a bit of a kick from the alcohol, so if you’re not too much of a fine of that feeling then perhaps keep the other two types to yourself!
For a nice little gift for a friend or relation then at £15 they’re not bad value. They’re definitely not the finest chocolates Hotel Chocolat have ever made, but you’d be paying a lot more than £15 for those. Overall I’d give this a rating of ‘good’.
