The lovely people at Divine sent me this Easter egg to review and I wasn’t going to leave it unattended. I’ve tried most of their other Easter eggs such as the Large Divine Milk Chocolate Easter Egg With Marc De Champagne Truffles and the small Divine 70% Dark Chocolate Easter Egg and they do a great job of producing very good quality Fairtrade Easter eggs at affordable prices. They may not be supermarket prices, but I’m not generally a big fan of their quality. Saying that, this Easter egg is only 27% cocoa, compared to Green & Blacks Organic Milk Chocolate Easter egg which has a minimum of 37% cocoa.
The character of the Easter egg beneath the packaging and the wrapping is of their usual ‘tree bark’ style. Personally I love it when the brand is embossed on the egg as Cadbury and Green & Blacks do. But we can’t have everything.
When it comes to the taste there’s a rounded sweetness to it which normally comes with the lower cocoa content Easter eggs. It also comes with butteriness to it which seems to wrap around the cane sugar taste. I wouldn’t say it has a predominantly ‘chocolate’ taste as their other Easter eggs do either. Only after quite a few mouthfuls does it start to get chocolatier.
The chocolate is also fairly thin and falls apart with the slightest pressure. But, I can look past this as it does get better with each bit I taste.
You also get a good amount of the mini eggs with are made from the same milk chocolate but seem to taste better as they’re more substantial.
