Cadbury Works With Farmers To Reduce Cow Farts

I just love PR stuff. But sometimes its mutually beneficial, just like Cadbury’s attempts to reduce their carbon footprint. Whilst reading a recent news item about Cadbury’s efforts something struck me: The unwanted carbon-based gasses emitted in the process of manufacturing our food stuffs isn’t always a factory-based issue.

Cadbury recently found that 60% of the emissions for its Dairy Milk chocolate bar was related to the cows that produce the milk that go into the bar and now they’re working with farmers to introduce new diets to reduce this. Their overall target is to reduce emissions by 50% by 2020!

That may be a hard job, but they’ve already started by reducing the amount of plastic used in their small and medium sized Easter eggs by 202 tons which is the equivalent of 24m plastic bags or 4m two-litre drinks bottles!

Good work guys!
