White Chocolate Easter Eggs may not be my most favourite of all the types of Easter eggs that you can buy at this time, but I have reviewed some nice ones in my time. The strawberry white Easter egg from James was nice, but if you’re looking for something cheap but cute for small children then Thorntons do a white chocolate lamb which I’ve reviewed.
This year it seems that Thorntons have greatly increased their range of white chocolate Easter eggs. Now you can buy an extra thick one which has decent 320g of white chocolate for £6.50 which can also be personalised with some icing for no extra cost. It’s also has no gluten in it, is suitable for vegetarians and people who don’t want any alcohol. It may, however, contain traces of nuts and obviously does contain milk and soya.
If you wanted to spend some more and get something different you can get the large Lemon Meringue Easter Egg for £14.99 which includes pieces of lemon flavoured meringue pieces. This can’t be personalised however.
For £3.50 you can have a medium-sized white chocolate Easter egg which weighs 153g and seems to be made from the same chocolate as the extra thick one, but obviously it has less chocolate. It can also be personalised with someone’s name if you wish.
At the same price you can have a slightly larger Easter egg with an Easter bunny motif on the front which is made in milk chocolate. You’ll get 170g of chocolate with this one and personalisation comes free if you’d like it.
If novelty white chocolate is for you then you can get their 100g white chocolate lamb with some white chocolate buttons too for the same price.
Hotel Chocolat don’t do a great for white chocolate lovers, but they do a few interesting gifts in this sweet chocolate such as the Eton Mess Egg Sandwich which is priced at £8 (or if you buy 3 or more of their sandwiches then they’re £7 each). You’ll get 100g of white chocolate with some raspberry flavoured white chocolate too. This is certainly a funky alternative to the Thorntons range. I do like their raspberry white chocolate as it has a nice “zip” to it.
I also like their egg which is basically half white and half milk chocolate which does cost £15 and has 190g of chocolate as well as six praline and caramel mini eggs inside. It’s called a “White Cow Beastie Egg” and is new to their range this year. They also do a very similar one with stripes that resembles a zebra.
And that’s about it when it comes to white chocolate Easter eggs from Hotel Chocolat.
You could also try the Ouef Ivoire White Chocolate Easter Egg from Chocolate Trading Co. if you wanted a posher white chocolate Easter egg? I’ve tried their Easter eggs before and they’re fantastic! My latest favourite is the Oeuf Bohme Luxury Dark Chocolate Egg. But you can pick up this one, with mini eggs for just £12.99. What’s more, at 180g it’s a pretty decent size.
The Divine White Chocolate Easter egg is also a nice, cheap Easter egg that’s worth considering – especially if you’re on the hunt for a Fairtrade Easter egg as well. I’ve got this one next in line to review, so I’ll update you when I’ve given it a go. But there’s one thing you’re sure to like, and that’s the price. At only £3 each, you can’t go far wrong!
Unfortunately this is the only white Easter product they make, which is a shame, but the cocoa butter going into them might not be available in sufficient quantities from their Kuapa Kokoo chocolate co-operative to increase their product range.
