I’ve gone from reviewing one of the best Easter eggs ever in the shape of the Rocky Road to Caramellow Extra Thick Easter Egg to one of the worst. I know there’s about £19 difference in the price and the Ben 10 Easter egg is obviously aimed at kids and the lower end of the market. But last year I’m sure Tesco and Kinnerton did better.
Most of the time I can’t wait to dive in and taste the Easter eggs I’m reviewing, but with this one I really had no desire. I was totally disappointed on opening up the box to see how small the Easter egg was. The box is just short of 16.5cm tall, but the Easter egg itself was about 8cm tall. Where’s the other half of the Easter egg? Well it was filled up with a small chocolate treat. I’m just glad they called it “little” on the packaging as it is about 3.5cm tall. Not impressed so far.
And the aroma? Wet leather shoes. The taste? Was there any? It took a fair while for it to appear and then it went through the spectrum of cardboard, a bit of chocolate then a factory taste. I’m just glad it was so thin that there wasn’t a lot to review.
And the nutritional element? From my calculations the fat is 66% saturated fat and 17.9% in total. Even worse though, its 60.2% sugar – diabolical. There’s also a minimum of 30% cocoa content. So that works out (roughly) to twice as much sugar as cocoa – not good.
Easter Egg Rating: 1/10. I’m sure kids will love it, but buy them something a bit better.
Where to buy the Ben 10 Easter Egg – are you really sure you want to? If you are sure you can get it from
Tesco on one of their multibuy offers for £1. Save your money through and put it towards a decent egg.
